Workgroup Solutions

BioAssay Workgroup

BioAssay Workgroup provides flexible storage, retrieval and analysis of biological data. Designed for complex lead optimization experiments, the software supports the quick set-up of biological models. Learning to use and administer the application is straightforward due to the familiar user interface elements incorporated into the application. BioAssay Workgroup is designed to tackle the needs of high and low throughput screening biologists alike by providing an application flexible enough to model any assay, regardless of complexity, through an easy-to-use interface for importing, storing and analyzing the data. The software supports the quick set-up of biological models, automated calculations and curve fitting, data validation, and the creation of customized structure activity reports.

The CambridgeSoft BioAssay tool is designed to store and interpret assay data. Frequently, the outputs of assays are imported into Excel spreadsheets which are then used to perform calculations and output graphs that you may tape into your notebook.

CambridgeSoft’s BioAssay program gives an alternative to this process. The biologist is able to design an experiment protocol using a wizard. This protocol defines the plate setup, dilution factors and control wells and is flexible enough to accommodate whatever unique plate setup fits the experiment. The biologist also indicates what should happen with the data after having been imported, which might include many different calculations. Finally, the user is able to visualize this output in a way that makes most sense. In some cases, this visualization might be a series of graphs or a heat map. These images and data can then be imported into your electronic lab notebook, if you like.

Version 12 of our BioAssay software offers added functionality in its ability to work with Microsoft Excel. This feature allows the user to export BioAssay into Excel, which is then automatically launched with the data inside. The user can then make use of any Excel macros that he or she might desire. Then, the data can be imported back into BioAssay and the results shown in the analysis window.

This is helpful for users who have already programmed macros into Excel and want that data to be part of their overall assay analysis.

Solution Offerings:

  • BioAssay Workgroup 12.0 Suite

BioAssay Workgroup Upgrade upgrades the premier BioAssay Desktop 12.0 application for use with SQL Server and up to 100 users. The Workgroup solution offers much of the functionality delivered in BioAssay Enterprise, while using SQL Server as the database, instead of Oracle. This eliminates the cost and maintenance involved with an Oracle based application, but still maintains a robust solution suitable for a smaller group's needs.
