Question:

After installing ChemDraw 14.0/ChemBioDraw 14.0 on my Mac OSX 10.9 (which was upgraded from 10.8.x). I am still being asked to register the product each time I open it. How do I resolve this problem?

Answer:

Please make sure that you have the following location on your Mac OSX 10.9. (if you are not able to view the Library folder then you need to unhide the folder (for Mac OSX 10.9.x)

Macintosh HD/Users/Shared/Library/Preferences

If not, create a folder with the name Preferences (under Macintosh HD/Users/Shared/Library folder)

i.e
Macintosh HD
      /Users
          /Shared
               /Library
                 /Preferences

Then give Read and Write permission to this folder for your account.
[Select the folder and then choose File > Get Info (or click Command as well as I keys in the keyboard), click the lock icon and enter an administrator’s name and password, then assign read and write permission to your account under the "Sharing & Permissions" section]

Then download the ChemDraw Uninstaller from the following location.

http://media.cambridgesoft.com/support/14/ChemDrawUninstaller.zip

After downloading, double click the ChemDrawUninstaller.zip which will open a wizard and show you the components that it is going to uninstall. Click the uninstall button and note that you need to provide the admin credentials to complete the un-installation.

Then try the installation once again.
