Description

Member of ChemDraw Control.Atom.

Sets and returns the isotope of the atom

Property type

Read-write property

Syntax

Visual Basic
Public Property Isotope() As Long

Return Type

Long

Remarks

Returns the absolute isotopic mass of an atom (2 for deuterium, 14 for carbon-14).  A value of zero indicates natural abundance. By default, ChemDraw correctly recognizes all isotopes in the full Table of the Elements. A superscripted number before the element symbol indicates isotope numbers. They can be included anywhere that regular elements can.

Example

'Declares variables
 Dim myAtom As ChemDrawControl10Ctl.Atom
'Checks that there is an atom loaded in the variable
 If  Selection.Atoms.Count < 1 Then
     Exit Sub
 End If

'Reads and sets this property
 Private Sub cmdIsotope_Click()
      myAtom.Isotope = val(text1.text)
      Text2.text = myAtom.Isotope
 End Sub
