Description

Member of ChemDraw Control.Arrow

Sets and returns whether this arrow is a dipole arrow.

Property type

Read-write property

Syntax

Visual Basic
Public Property IsDipole() As Boolean

Return Type

Boolean

Remarks

When two different atoms are bonded covalently, the shared electrons are attracted to the more electronegative atom of the bond, resulting in a shift of electron density toward the more electronegative atom.  Such a covalent bond is polar, and will have a dipole (one end is positive and the other end negative).  The dipolar nature of these bonds is often indicated by an arrow pointing to the negative end of the bond ().

Example

'Declares variable vArrow
 Dim vArrow As ChemDrawControl10Ctl.Arrow
'Checks that there is an arrow loaded in the variable

 If Selection.Arrows.Count < 1 Then
     Exit Sub
 End If

 Private Sub cmdIsDipole_click()
   'Returns a value of True or False for the IsDipole property
    Text1.text = vArrow.IsDipole

    vArrow.IsDipole = TRUE
 End Sub
