Scientific Databases

Reference

Quick and easy access to reference information is a vital necessity for research scientists. Scientists can use the CambridgeSoft Reference database collection to search for chemical properties or toxicological information, to look up important reference information, to explore the world of biologically active compounds, validate in-silico screens, or mine unique natural products databases - all from their benchtop without interrupting their daily workflow.

Databases:

The Merck Index

The Merck Index database is a structure-searchable encyclopedia of chemicals, drugs, and biologicals. More than 10,000 monographs on single substances and related groups of compounds cover chemical, generic, and brand names; registry numbers; physical data and literature references; structures and stereochemistry; toxicity information; and therapeutic uses.

Ashgate Drugs

Ashgate's Drugs: Synonyms and Properties covers over 8,000 drug substances currently in common use worldwide. Edited by world-renowned authority in drug design and chemical information G.W.A. Milne, this volume fills an important gap in drug information.

Traditional Chinese Medicines

Traditional Chinese Medicines contains information on 10,458 compounds isolated from 4,636 TCM natural sources, comprised mostly of plants, a small number of animals and a few minerals.

R&D Insight / Chemists

R&D Insight for Chemists is a drug pipeline database produced by Adis International, a division of Wolters Kluwer Health.

ChemINDEX

ChemINDEX is a directory of over 75,000 unique chemical substances, listing chemical structure, 3D structure, registry numbers, synonyms, physical properties, and links to Internet sources of further information.

NCI & AIDS

National Cancer Institute (NCI) Subscription Edition provides structures, names, and biological screening results from the Developmental Therapeutics Program (DTP), including DTP Human Tumor Cell Line Screen and DTP AIDS Antiviral Screen.

The Nanogen Index

The Nanogen Index contains data on over 1000 pesticides and other environmental contaminants. It contains authoritative and up-to-date information on all pesticides and agricultural chemicals in world wide use. Data is included not only on currently used pesticides, but also those which are in the R&D pipeline and compounds which were once marketed or reached a development status. The Nanogen Index is an online, fully searchable Nanogen Database.
