Sourcing & Safety

In any research organization that uses chemistry, the sourcing, storage, and disposal of research chemicals is a major challenge. Sifting through pages of chemical catalogs is a poor use of time for any research scientists and purchasing agent. Environmental, Heath and Safety (EH&S) processes must be well defined to ensure compliance with laws, regulations and an organization’s own safety policies. CambridgeSoft's Sourcing & Safety databases and applications can streamline these tasks to help control costs and improve efficiency.

Databases:

ChemACX

ChemACX is a comprehensive online catalog containing current product information from 500 leading chemical supplier catalogs such as Sigma Aldrich, Fisher, Acros, Alfa Aesar, Lancaster, Novabiochem (EMD Biosciences, Inc.), and TCI America (View all suppliers listed in ChemACX.)

Sigma Aldrich MSDS

The Sigma-Aldrich database contains over 130,000 MSDSs for the products of the Sigma-Aldrich family of catalogs (Sigma, Aldrich, Fluka, Supelco, Riedel-de Haën) in HTML format.

ChemMSDX

Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are documents designed to provide both workers and emergency response personnel with information and proper procedures for handling or working with a particular chemical substance. MSDSs include information on the chemical's identity; physical and chemical characteristics; physical and health hazards; toxicity; primary routes of entry; exposure limits; whether the chemical is a carcinogen; precautions for safe handling and use; spill or leak control measures; emergency and first aid procedures; storage, disposal, and transportation, and more all in a standardized format. ChemMSDX is a database of material safety data sheets for thousands of products listed in CambridgeSoft's available chemicals database, ChemACX.
